With the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) coming up quickly (October 15th-December 7th), Medicare Fraud becomes a concern for our clients and anyone on a Medicare Advantage, Supplement, or Prescriptions Drug Plan, Scammers will try to call you and ask you about your personal information and even ask for your Medicare Number saying that they are with Medicare or Medicare asked them to call you. Medicare will never contact you for your Medicare Number or other personal information unless you've given them permission in advance, Medicare will never call you to sell you anything. You may get calls from people promising you things if you give them a Medicare Number. Don't do it. Medicare will never visit you at your home. Medicare can't enroll you over the phone unless you called first. Please be aware of these warnings.
We also recommend to check regularly for Medicare billing fraud. Review your Medicare claims and Medicare Summary Notices for any services billed to your Medicare Number you don't recognize. If you do not recognize something on your claim or you get one of these calls from a scammer, you can report them to Medicare directly at 1-800-633-4227. When you call Medicare, they have an option to report fraud. Please be vigilant with all of your calls and check your billing weekly. We cannot wait to see you all again during AEP to go over some of the new changes with some plans.
